Gift Guides

After my weekend hiatus from posting, I returned home and had a ton of work to catch up on for the website I work for. I am currently writing, editing, and scheduling a bunch of holiday shopping guides for Better After 50. Putting together gift guides can be a bit of a grind, but there are a bunch of gift ideas I've come across that I think are totally awesome!

I love shopping for gifts. Throughout the year, I'm constantly picking up things that I think the people in my life will love so I'm not scrambling when holidays and birthdays come around. I think you can never go wrong with a gift that shows a person that you listen to them. You can show that with gifts that make their daily inconveniences more convenient, or with gifts that relate to their interests and hobbies.

What makes a great gift? I think the perfect gift is something that is fun yet practical. It's something that a person wouldn't necessarily buy themselves, but that would be a welcome addition to their day-to-day life. A great gift also can't be too personal. Like, I would never buy someone a pair of pants as a gift because no matter how well I know someone, I still don't know what size and cut of jeans they would prefer.

Without further ado, let's get into some fun gift ideas!

HP Sprocket

The HP Sprocket is a small, portable, wireless printer that connects to an app and allows you to print photos directly from your camera roll or social media. The Sprocket connects to your device through bluetooth and uses Zero-Ink technology to print photos out onto specialized paper that has a sticky back. Nowadays everyone loves capturing memories on their phones and the Sprocket is an awesome way to effortlessly upgrade that experience. Perfect for the avid Instagrammer, the scrapbooker, or for a friend who loves sharing photo memories!

These tiny printers are available in several colors!

Subscription Boxes

Subscription boxes have become super popular. Now, you can find a subscription box for just about any interest! You can gift someone a few free months of a subscription box, and you can find a ton of options on CrateJoy. Here are just a few of my favorite subscription box gift ideas:

Tea Runners

Each Tea Runners box contains a curated collection of four high-quality, small-batch, loose-leaf teas along with brewing and tasting instructions. Each monthly box can brew between 30-50 cups of tea! Any tea aficionado will love this subscription box.

Coffee and a Classic

I have tons of friends who love caffeinated beverages as much as they love reading. They'll love the Coffee and a Classic subscription box! Each box includes a classic book, a warm beverage (coffee, tea, or hot cocoa), a mug for said beverage, a snack, a bookmark, and a couple of surprises!

UNIQSocks

Socks are a classic fallback Christmas gift. The UNIQSocks box will provide its recipient with 5 pairs of bold, fun socks each month!

SCRIBEdelivery

I can think of plenty of people in my life who would be stoked to receive a stationary subscription box, myself included! Each SCRIBEdelivery box includes a themed collection of stationary with at least one pen, one notebook, pencils and other high quality supplies. They consistently receive rave reviews from their subscribers, so whoever you gift this to this season will certainly be satisfied.

Mugs

I've had more than one person tell me that you can't get guys mugs as gifts, but after a brief survey of my Twitter followers, everyone loves mugs! You can never have too many mugs and you can find fun ones to match the style and interests of anyone you're shopping for. They can be funny or stylish, but they're always super useful. Plus, mugs don't break the bank, so they're also great for small gifts or Secret Santa exchanges.

Here are some universally cool ones featuring declarations that the mug's owner is the boss, a cat flipping you off, an ultra-classy enamel mug, and a mug that doubles as a coffee press.

Who is still on your holiday shopping lists this year? What are your go-to gift giving ideas? Let me know in the comments!
